Genre powerhouse Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Abu Dhabi<\/a>, the Academy Award-winning film and entertainment studio, have unveiled their next psychological horror-thrillerHOBA<\/em>; a haunting new feature by critically acclaimed Emirati filmmaker Majid Al Ansari<\/strong>(Zinzana, Paranormal<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the first Arabic-language Emirati film under the Spooky Pictures-Image Nation slate, HOBA <\/em>marks a significant step forward for regional genre storytelling. The film is set for release in the UAE on October 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOBA <\/em>tells the story of a devoted wife and mother whose life begins to unravel when her husband returns home with a second wife and an unseen darkness infiltrates her home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starring Emirati actress Bdoor Mohammed<\/strong> (Blood Wedding<\/em>, 25 Fils<\/em>) in a commanding lead role as the first wife, Amani, the film also features Saudi artist and filmmaker Sarah Taibah<\/strong> (Jameel Jeddan<\/em>, Night Courier<\/em>) as the enigmatic second wife, Zahra. Rising talent Iman Doghoz<\/strong> (Makr<\/em>, Kaboos<\/em>) portrays Amani\u2019s vulnerable daughter, while Emirati actor Jassem AlKharraz<\/strong> (Zawaj Ella Roba’a<\/em>, Ala Gad Alhal<\/em>, Wadima and Halima<\/em>) plays her father, Khalid. Together, the cast brings to life a deeply resonant story about family bonds, emotional conflict and the unseen forces that test them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Produced by horror genre veterans Roy Lee<\/strong> (Barbarian<\/em>, It<\/em>), Steven Schneider<\/strong> (Insidious<\/em>, Paranormal Activity<\/em>), Derek Dauchy<\/strong> (Late Night with the Devil, The Plague<\/em>) and Rami Yasin<\/strong> (Hokum)<\/em> the film blends supernatural tension with culturally grounded storytelling, offering a uniquely regional take on universal fears. Mohamed Hefzy<\/strong> (Flight 404,Voy! Voy! Voy!)<\/em> is Executive Producer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOBA <\/em>marks a return to the genre for Majid Al Ansari, whose breakout debut Zinzana<\/em> earned international acclaim and became the first Arab language film acquired by Netflix. Known for blending bold visual style with emotionally charged storytelling, Al Ansari continues to push boundaries in Arab cinema, offering audiences globally resonant narratives grounded in regional identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoba<\/em><\/strong>is part of a slate of upcoming projects from Spooky Pictures and Image Nation including Charlie Polinger\u2019s The Plague <\/em>starring Joel Edgerton, which recently premiered in Cannes\u2019 prestigious Un Certain Regard competition, Randall Okita\u2019s Menace <\/em>starring Isabel May, <\/em>and Damian Mc Carthy\u2019s Hokum<\/em> starring Adam Scott.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Majid Al Futtaim \u2013 Vox Independent Distribution is handling the theatrical release for UAE<\/a>, with Film Clinic handling the rights for post-theatrical in MENA, and AGC International handling the rights for the rest of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
